Work Experience
Freelance IT Consultant - The Nexus (1998-Present)
With assistance from others I run a domain name registration and web hosting service
over the Internet with servers and customers worldwide. I have gained
experience in technical administration and support of shared servers on
Linux, Solaris and Windows platforms, marketing products and services
through both conventional and new means, delivering solutions to customers,
providing support over the Internet and running a small business -
accounting and bookkeeping, managing contracts.

ICT Systems Administrator - King Henry VIII School, Warwick Road, Coventry (1999-2002)
Working for the Coventry School Foundation, a collection of five independent
schools in the Coventry district. I was primarily responsible for the day-to-day
administration of the 300 computers on the King Henry VIII site supporting over
1200 users (fully switched 3Com SuperStack network, 5 x Windows NT File Servers,
SuSE Linux Squid Proxy Server, Cisco Internet Router) and BT Meridian Norstar
Modular Telephone system. I was responsible for planning and implementation of
upgrades to hardware and software, stability and integrety of network, staff
training and line management of ICT Technician. My achievements during my
time there included using Linux to create a caching server on retired hardware,
developing effective Intranet and Internet structures, replacement of 200
machines, migration to Windows 2000 for finance/administration networks on
three sites, development of foundation-wide remote support system and
re-programming the Norstar phone system to allow integration with NTL
Centrex system in use on the other Foundation sites.

Mistrys Healthy Options, 14 High Street, Market Harborough (1998-2000)
Working part-time, I manned the Kodak Express Minilab (developing and
printing films, plus digital services) and covered the main photographic
counter (selling cameras, films and other goods). I worked to improve
use of the computerised stock control system and oversaw the installation
of a new network of computer terminals and tills in the shop. I also took
on the redevelopment of the web site and connected the shops to the Internet.

Other Interests
I enjoy taking part in the occasional dramatic performance and play the piano
when I can. As a Christian, I have been an active member of Baptist and Methodist
churches, attending regularly and participating fully in the church life of the
respective churches where I lived. I have also used my computing knowledge to help
out various charities and organisations including AFS
and Sewa International, from
producing publicity to building computers and creating web sites. Other than that
When I was younger I was involved in the Scouts where I also performed in Gang Shows.
I was President of the Cambridge University Star
Trek Society and a founding Committee member for the Cambridge
University New Music Society.
